Truffle & Cheese Toastie – The Ultimate Winter Comfort Food
If you’re lucky enough to have fresh black winter truffle, this is the most decadent and delicious toastie you’ll ever make. It's rich, cheesy, and infused with the earthy aroma of truffle—your taste buds will crave it every winter. And if you don’t have fresh truffle (ideally from Mineral Springs Truffles), don’t worry—you can still enjoy a stunning version using organic truffle oil.
Ingredients (per toastie)
50g of your favourite toastie cheese (a blend of 3 cheeses works beautifully)
50g of high-quality unsalted butter
A pinch of truffle salt (we use mineral springs black truffle salt)
2 slices of good-quality bread (we use Irrewarra sourdough casalinga)
10–15g of fresh black winter truffle (or 1 tsp of truffle oil as a substitute)
Fresh herbs to garnish (optional)
Instructions
Prepare the Filling
In a bowl, mix the cheese with the fresh truffle and a pinch of truffle salt. If you’re using truffle oil instead, drizzle it over the cheese and mix gently to coat.Assemble the Toastie
Lay one slice of bread down and press the cheese mixture evenly onto it. Top with the second slice to form a sandwich.Toast to Golden Perfection
Heat the butter in a frying pan over medium heat. Once sizzling, place the sandwich in the pan. Fry for 2–3 minutes on each side, pressing down gently, until the bread is golden and the cheese is oozing.Slice & Serve
Remove from the pan, slice in half, and serve immediately. Add a sprinkle of herbs if desired.
Pro tip: Pair with a glass of wine or hot soup for the ultimate winter indulgence.
This is one toastie you’ll look forward to all year long.
